Romsley raid car found

The getaway car used in an "terrifying" armed robbery at Romsley post office has been found, police have confirmed.

Two men used an axe and an iron bar to threaten staff and customers before escaping with a quantity of cash during the raid at the post office on the junction of Bromsgrove Road and St Kenelms Road yesterday morning.

The men, both dressed in black and wearing balaclavas, escaped in a silver BMW Series One which was recovered by officers across the village in Waverley Crescent.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the pair abandon the car.

Both men were white with one man noticeably taller than the other.

Detective Sergeant Gary Mole, of Bromsgrove CID said: "This was a terrifying incident for customers and staff in the stores and post office and it is important to trace those responsible as soon as possible.

"We are keen to talk to anyone who may have knowledge of the car and its occupants, particularly if they saw it being abandoned in Waverley Crescent."

Witnesses or anyone with information should call DS Mole on 08457 444888 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
