Kids to visit Auschwitz
Students from Halesowen and Rowley Regis schools will get the chance to visit Auschwitz thanks to £4.65 million of Government funding.
Sylvia Heal MP has welcomed the money, which would allow two pupils from every school to make the educational visit to learn about the horrors of the Holocaust.
Each trip takes up to 200 students from across the country to Auschwitz in Poland, where expert guides show pupils around the site, letting them see first hand where the horrors occurred.
Sylvia, said: "The Holocaust was one of the most horrific events in world history and it's important that every young person has an understanding of it.
"Teaching of the Holocaust is compulsory in all secondary schools, but sometimes getting out of the classroom and actually visiting the places can be the best way to truly grasp the enormity of what occurred."

Ah, so David Cameron's prodding has goaded Brown into finding the money he promised for this initiative. We'll wait to see how many youngsters get to partake of this.

£4.5Million and what I could do with that amount?....So I am going to suggest here that the money be better spent on a trial school based on the 1950's for one whole year, whereby pupils were taught in that day, the three r's, respect was carried out with the cane in an attempt to turn out decent people that will be good wives and husbands and look after their off springs and be good citizens. The school would be an option to present day standards that the parents and child should agree and sign up to, whereby present schooling would show a clip around the ear seeing the teacher arrested promptly....what you say ‘Armed Strength for Peace’..(Arma pacis fulcra)??...in the 1950's we were taught of the horrors of war by ex soldiers, commando's that went back to school mastering, they gave graphic stories that a video would never get near, further, how many children will say, what ar miss, did I miss it on a video...further, Schindlers list is sufficient and is presently shown in all schools in Germany...we were not the agressors so why send our kids that don't even know about wars except the illegal one of Bush and Balir's??...further the 1st and second wars were wasted lives when you see what our masters have now subjected us all to?...liars, cheats, business people mapping out our lives with themseleves uppoermost in all their decisions?.....
