Armed robbery in Romsley

Two men have made off with a quantity of cash following an armed robbery in Romsley this morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which occured at 11.48am.

The men, who were wearing balaclavas and carrying weapons, threatened staff at the counter of the sub post-office in the village store on the junction of Bromsgrove Road and St Kenelms Road.

They also took cash from the store's till before escaping in a silver coloured BMW Series One in the direction of Halesowen.

No-one was hurt and the weapons carried by the men were not firearms.

Both men are described as white, slim and of medium build. One was noticeably taller than the other and both wore black clothing.

Detective Sergeant Gary Mole, of Bromsgrove CID, said: "There were a number of customers and staff on the premises at the time and we particularly want to talk to any witnesses who were inside when it happened who have not already spoken to the police.

"Obviously we also want to talk to anyone who may have seen the vehicle used by the men before or after the robbery or knows who might be responsible for this."

Witnesses or anyone with information should call DS Mole at Bromsgrove CID on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
