Woman hurt in collision

A woman pedestrian has been badly injured after she was hit by a lorry.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the accident in Oldbury Road, Rowley Regis at 12.20pm this afternoon.

An ambulance crew and a solo paramedic in a rapid response vehicle attended.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On arrival, crews found a woman, believed to be in her 60s, who was unconscious.

"She had suffered numerous serious injuries.

"The paramedic from the rapid response vehicle joined the ambulance crew in looking after the patient while she was taken on blue lights to Sandwell District General Hospital.

"Staff at the hospital had been put on alert for her arrival, due to the serious nature of her injuries."
