A "beautiful" new gastropub in Bromsgrove is set to open its doors next week.

The Wildmoor Oak has been closed for 18 months but has now undergone a £513,000 top-to-toe refurbishment to transform the much-loved pub.

It will officially re-open on Monday, May 20 and is set to provide a "lovely place to eat, drink and socialise".

The team is being led by Bromsgrove locals Bex Wilkins, who grew up in the town, and wife Sarah Robinson.

They have spent the last decade at Peach Pubs running award-winning gastropubs across the West Midlands, Warwickshire and further afield.

The couple will be joined by head chef Peter Jackson who hails from Michelin-starred Carters of Moseley in Birmingham.

Co-owner Bex Wilkins said: "We're really excited to be here in the village and on home territory opening The Wildmoor Oak. We’ve long wanted to open our own place, having run great gastropubs for others over the years, and when the chance came, we jumped at it.

"To us, a great experience is about much more than good food and drink - it's all about the hospitality and that’s what you’ll find here."

The Wildmoor Oak is not only set to bring fantastic new food but the pub has been given a completely new look.

Staying true to the building's age and style, the original wooden floorboards have been stripped back and varnished with aged antique panels used to decorate the walls.

There is also eco-friendly House of Hackney wallpaper with local artwork, brass lighting and a new log burner to create a homely feel.

The outside space has also been given a revamp with wooden benches and high tables.

Ms Wilkins added: "Ours is a pub that you can come to whatever the occasion, whether you’ve just finished a long walk with the dog and want to sit near the fire with a pint of beer or get dressed up and come for a great steak and a nice bottle of wine.

"The Wildmoor Oak is somewhere you can come any time and have a great time. We can’t wait to welcome you."

A regularly changing menu is available with daily specials created by Peter Jackson.

Some menu highlights include the Worcester Black Bomber rarebit with sourdough, the panzanella and burella salad and the scotch egg with gherkin pickle for starters.

Desserts include berry Eton mess and sticky toffee pudding.

There will also be Sunday roasts available, vegan options, a children's menu and a range of drinks including Cruzcampo, Beavertown's Neck Oil, sparking wines and house cocktails.

The opening hours are Monday to Thursday from 10am until 10pm, Friday and Saturday from 10am until 11pm and Sunday from 10am to 10pm.
